Insurance Renewal

By Makis - Posted on 23 July 2009

Last week as each time every year I received my insurance renewal quote.

I have been using the same company(ebike) for the last few years, which I think goes back to 2006.

The renewal insurance quote was for £117.50, for insuring both bikes (Capo and a 98 Pegaso) with TPFT.

Today after some thinking I've decided to renew with the same company as the quote seemed reasonable enough, and didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to get different quotes.

So by going to the website, I thought I'm going to make a couple of changes to the bikes values as they are not automatically updated since last year.
So changes made and just before I actually pressed the 'buy' button, I suddenly remembered something about vouchers and coupon emails I had received during the past year from the same company.

Going to the Vouchers tab on my account in their website, I've noticed that my 'e-wallet' was showing that I had £20 in vouchers. Reading the terms and conditions about using them, it appeared that you were only supposed to use them in a new quote/insurance.

Well, I thought I don't have anything to lose by trying to get a new quote, instead of using the renewal.
And that's what I did.
After going through all the different quote screen I was very surprised to find out at the final screen that my new quote was : £77.50 !!

Somehow there was a discount of £20 from the voucher I had and another £20 from a coupon that I hadn't noticed!

What a result!

I'm not so sure that they intended it to work that way, but I couldn't find anything preventing me doing that.
And of course I've made sure that my existing policy was set to lapse at the end of the cover!

I've also found out that you can ask for an email, that they send you with vouchers, so if anyone wants to use them are here:

I don't know for how long they are valid, but if anyone wants to use them click and let me know if they work or not.
