Henk Knuiman: «Aprilia called me» - South America - Caponord Rally Raid - Front discs

Just found out today, that Mikkel Thomsen is on a round the world expedition on his Aprilia Caponord Rally Raid, that started in October 2007.
Only found out because his friend Matnic has posted a question about the problem with his front discs on the AF1 forum.

According to Mikkel's website which is here, his mission is:

NEC Show 2007

A few thoughts about the NEC show I visited last Sunday.

(and a few pictures here).

First of all it was very busy, and it was only possible to have a good view of the bikes after about 4pm.
It was better organised than previous years, as most (but not all) bike manufacturers stands were on one place, and the equipment/clothing was in another part.

Questions needing answers

I'm very new to this technical stuff. anyway, i posted a reply to 7 capos in settle regarding various things and thought I'd better do it again so there is more chance of people reading and responding.

EICMA 2007 - Dorsoduro - FV2 1200 - 32000 miles

An interesting news email today from Aprilia.
Click on the image above for the full article.
In it there is something about the Dorsudoro supermotart.
Looks very nice, altough I think it would be even better if it came out before the Ducati one.

Some other interesting news in the newsletter are about a concept bike called FV2 1200.
It's interesting because it can only mean one thing.

Tesco-Esso-Heated Grips

Just reached 31600 miles recently.

I have recently started using Esso petrol, as for some reason last time I've filled up the bike seemed to be running a little bit smoother. Maybe it had something to do with the weather as well, but I will keep filling up with Esso at the moment. I used to go to Tesco or Shell before. I always had the impression that the Shell was better than Tesco as well. Who knows maybe it's all in my mind(?).

Settle Yorkshire and the 7 Capos

A nice meeting with another 6 Capo owners last Saturday and a nice rideout afterwards.

That was the only meeting with so many Capo owners in the UK that I've been so far!
Could that be the first of many?
Hope so.
Thanks Chrisonord for coming up with the suggestion, and everyone else for getting there.

I have been to previous meetings but the best we had at any one time I think was 4!
Even in the one I've been to Italy :-)

Here are the pictures: click here

Nice to meet you all, and hope to see you all again soon!

Shiver - Ride - Service Intervals - Aprilia engine

Just been going through and reading some old issues of RiDE, now that summer's over, and I was reading the August 2007 issue.
There is a test of the Aprilia Shiver in it.
What I found was interesting was the fact that the article was claiming that the new engine should have a service interval of 12500 miles!

Here's the text from RiDE:

Building their own engine means Aprilia will be able to meet all the needs they have for a range of bikes using the same motor.

Over the 30K miles .. and away..

Just finally got around to finding the picture of the speedo just having passed the 30K miles!!
Happened a couple of weeks ago on the 10th September 2007.
Having got the bike in May 2004, I think that makes it around 10K a year.
Considering that I was only able to use for holidays for the first three years (04-06), I think it's pretty good.
Am I happy with it?
Of course I am.
Can't wait to get over the 40K, 50K and 100K !!

Aprilia Mana

A new bike with some interesting features.
Check out the website (click on the picture below)

It would be nice to see some of the these in a new Caponord :-)
